Calling Me Home

Photo and card by Carmen Lara

It was a moment I'll never forget - a feeling that I had found my true home. I was visiting the Black Hills from Minnesota for a spiritual retreat, and a small group of us decided to take an afternoon trip to Spearfish. I had never heard of the place before, but as soon as we drove into the area, I knew that I belonged there.

As we made our way to Spearfish Canyon, I couldn't help but take in the stunning scenery and snap photos of anything that caught my eye. Little did I know that this trip would change my life forever.

Fast forward three months, and I was living in Spearfish. I went back to the spot where we had stopped to take photos, and that's when I saw it - a face in the rocks. It was as if she had been waiting for me all along, calling me home.

I couldn't believe it. How had I not noticed the face before? And then it hit me - it was a sign, a message from the universe that I was exactly where I was meant to be. I went back to my photos from that day with my friends and there it was, clear as day.

That moment was a turning point in my life. It made me realize that sometimes, the universe sends us signs and it's up to us to listen. And when we do, we can find our true home - both in the physical sense and in our hearts.

I'm grateful every day for that trip to Spearfish and the message that the universe sent me. It's a reminder that we are all exactly where we are meant to be, and that sometimes, we just need to listen to that inner voice calling us home.
